Cryptic is inviting Scottish based artists to submit existing sound installations and/or live music performances with visuals to be shown at Sonica Glasgow which returns for its sixth edition from 10 – 20 March 2022.

No entry fee

The successful artist will receive:
– A guaranteed fee of £500, which is above the Scottish Artist Union and Musicians’ Union 2020 rates of pay. Please note, the fee will remain the same for submissions from two or more artists working collaboratively. Fees will be revised if necessary in line with 2022 rates of pay;
– Travel and accommodation expenses for artists based out with Glasgow;
– Support in sourcing basic technical equipment;
– Support for install/de-install;
– Venue, PR and marketing support.

Bauhaus Residency 2020

The programme is aimed at international artists whose work relates to the historical disciplines represented at the Bauhaus and the subsequent developments of these core disciplines – among them painting, product design, textile design, music, theatre, performance, architecture and photography.

The Bauhaus Residency comprises three different possibilities for participation: an Open Call, which is addressed to artists who are part of an artist collective and which is hosted by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation together with the GfZk – Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig; a group of invited artists and authors; and a Shared Residency for young musicians with the Kurt Weil Fest GmbH.

The Open Call is aimed at artists working collectively (2 to a maximum of 5 people). Of particular interest are works that engage and reflect on social contexts in novel ways as well as other approaches to modernity. In the spirit of the programme’s emphasis on the fictional (that is, the shaped, formed and invented), the main focus will be on a critical examination of the working process itself. Therefore, we are looking for innovative ways of presenting the processes of art making and development. A connection to the 2020 theme of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation: “Habitat” is desirable. “Habitat” conceives of habitation as a cultural practice, thus distancing itself from modernist understandings of housing as a universally applicable ‘living machine.’

Each year around 20 internationally renowned and highly qualified visual artists, writers, filmmakers,
composers and sound artists of all ages, who have developed their own distinguished artistic voice and body of work, are invited to Berlin. For visual arts, literature and music divisions, the residency lasts 12 months, for film 6 months.

Residencies are scheduled to begin between January 1 and May 31 of the subsequent calendar year, or later in exceptional cases.

German nationals may not apply. Foreign artists who are residents of the Federal Republic of Germany are also excluded from applying.

Residency offers:
- Monthly grant installments for living expenses and rent
- Provision of a furnished apartment
- Travel and baggage expenses (regular airline, economy class), also for spouse and children who will be staying in Berlin for the entire duration of the invitation

Folie/Culture invites all those who express themselves through music, poetry, performance, deglutition, car burnouts and all other potential audio works to contribute to the Radio Silence call for projects.

As part of our current theme Walk on Eggshells!, Folie/Culture is looking for audio proposals that combine the injunction and the exemplary—intrinsic to our repressive societies—with audio art.

As Barthes stated in his book Mythologies (1957), advertising and slogans possess the organized ability to communicate something while being of no arbitrariness, no conditionality—the same as a truth.

Thus, Radio Silence will occupy the radio advertising space of the program Québec Réveille on CKIA 88.3 FM for 25 seconds, risking—perhaps—to break the flow of “meaning overload” inherent to advertising messages.

These audio segments, broadcasted live during advertising and available as podcasts on the Internet, will allow us to question society’s injunction to the exemplary, to the docile. So, let’s ask ourselves this: how does the monstrous express itself when it is usually muzzled?

The scholarships are awarded as work-scholarships for a different number of months. The application is by portfolio. The scholarships do not necessarily have be project based, research and elaboration work is also funded.

The NAVE Center of Arts announces to artists, artistic groups, professors, researchers,
producers and show technicians, that, from July 5, 2019 to August 9, 2019, the registration for
the submission of integrating the schedule of the cultural center, during the period from 16
September 2019 to 17 July 2020. The areas of interest are visual arts, performing arts, music,
creative writing, fashion and handicrafts.

The artistic residency programs of the NAVE Centre of Arts intends to build connections,
encourage dialogues, incentivize the creation and innovation of artistic languages and creative
processes, enable the production and dissemination of research works, presentations and
works of art, mediate the exchange of knowledge and experiences, and promote the
enjoyment the art and strengthen its social dynamics.

Applications will be accepted for projects in the areas of visual arts, performing arts, music,
creative writing, fashion and handicrafts

The period of artist residency will have a minimum duration of 1 (one) and maximum
of 3 (three) months.

The NAVE Center of Arts is responsible for:
• Collecting and storing, for the purposes of this residency program, personal and
professional information of applicants over 18 years old as discolsed by the applicant
in the application form;
• Protecting and preserving such information in order not to expose, share, provide or
transmit it to third parties, above all, without the prior written permission of
applicants;
• Opening judicial proceedings against those who violate or attempt to violate the
database in which the applicant's personal and professional information is contained;
• Offering a workspace and shared accommodation, as well as basic support for the
production, promotion, visual production of the eletronic invitation and flyer printing,
getting other materials and services on behalf of the resident;
• Establishing the programme agenda, as well as its distribution throughout the artist
residency program;
• Mediating or acting interviews or other proposals for coverage, promotion, adverste or
showcase of the work and the information of products resulting from the development
of the artistic residency program, if there the opportunity arises,;
