Over its many years, the International Biennial Exhibition of the Modern Exlibris has become one of the most distinct forms of activity engaged in by the Malbork Castle Museum. Ever since the first edition in 1963, it has been enjoying continued recognition of graphic artists from across the world, and of connoisseurs familiar and excited about this form of graphic art. Over the past 55 years, we have held 26 editions of this regular and unique artistic event, which has crowned the Malbork Castle as global centre of the artistic exlibris, all exhibitions organised to mark the occasion turning into events attracting large groups of visitors.

Each artist may submit up to 5 bookplates.

Only signed prints from printing plates made between 2017-2019 will be accepted.

Artist in residency in Ireland

Trinity College is pleased to invite applications from artists for a 12 month artist‐in‐residence position commencing in March 2020. The artist will be based at TTEC (Trinity Technology & Enterprise Centre), Grand Canal. The aim is to enable the artist to develop new work through a collaborative process of engagement with communities which should include local residents and school children and may also include technology and creative start‐ups and businesses, as the site transitions towards a new campus at the heart of the proposed Grand Canal Innovation District (GCID). The new site will have a focus on technology and creative arts, housing researchers, industry and start‐ups, as well as providing a welcoming space and opportunities for local residents. It is intended that this artist‐in‐residence position will be the beginning of a long‐term commitment to integrating art into the campus and wider innovation district. Submissions are welcome from artists working in any art form.

The artist‐in‐residence will focus on collaborative, community oriented programming, working with
local residents of all ages, school children and community groups. Applicants will be expected to
produce new work, engage with the history and culture of the area and site, as well as considering the
proposed plans for development. Our hope is that they will listen to the issues that affect this
community and respond to these issues with collaborative art that is ambitious, radical, engaged, and
meaningful. This is an open brief and artists may use a range of art forms, including but not limited to
theatre, story‐telling, film‐making, music, visual art, dance, writing, animation.

International image contest

The International Image Festival (FINI), organized by the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, is a multidisciplinary encounter to promote and appreciate the artistic creation and visual communication in a space of reflection and debate about aesthetics and the meaning and value of images in their different genres, expressions, and applications.

The Tenth Edition of FINI will take place on April 24-30, 2020, in the city of Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo, having as main topic Water.


The International Image Contest aims to recognize, promote, encourage and diffuse the works, in different genres, expressions and uses of image, of Mexican and foreign creators. The Call for entries is addressed to students and professionals of the image in the genres of Photography, Alternative Techniques, Poster and Documentary Film. The proposals will be examined by a Jury integrated by individuals with great national and international recognition.

FINI 2020 will have as main topic Water, therefore, the registered works must show the relevance of this topic from a biological, philosophical, political, economic, social, or cultural perspective.

Win a career-changing commission to illustrate The Folio Society’s new anthology of love poems – applications are now open.

This is the tenth Book Illustration Competition and this time we’re on the hunt for an illustrator for Love Poems, selected and edited by Imtiaz Dharker. There are three poems selected.

You must submit three full-page colour illustrations.
You must submit one illustration for each poem.

Art residency in Ireland

Artlink are seeking two Visual Artists; one Irish and one International, to take part in paid artist residencies at Artlink Fort Dunree, Donegal, Ireland, in 2020. Applications are open to professional visual artists working in any discipline.

Duration: 4 Weeks, March to December 2020

During the residency artists are expected to develop new work or new ideas based on the unique site, and engage with local artists and Artlink members. Resident artists are expected to actively create within the studio space for at least 20 hours a week and be willing to hold open studio hours with the public for a minimum of one day a week. Public engagement could be through presenting artist talks, workshops, demonstrations or other events.


The [INTL] residency is available to any artist living and working outside the island of Ireland, and the [IRL] Residencies are open to  any artists living and working on the island of Ireland including NI.

Art residency in Malaga

La Térmica launches the call for the fifth edition of the international programme Creators 2020. So far, 36 artists have already taken part on this project that started in 2013, and has since closed every edition with group shows exhibiting the artistic works of the Creators every different year.

This support programme to the contemporary creation seeks to boost the creators’ artistic and professional development that requires either spaces for their own projects or financial, technical and training support.


La Térmica promotes this open program to international and national creators, linked to any artistic discipline.

The maximum period for the projects development and the use of the facilities will be 120 days from February to the beginning of June 2020, with no possibility of extension.

 Individual or collective candidates should have training and a career related to the creation and could submit projects related to any artistic discipline.

Whenever I look at events and revolutions that are shaking up the world, I relive the feeling that systems from an older era are finally approaching their limit. Regardless if we are thinking of issues in business, culture, or politics, it has become more and more challenging to address them through a stream of constant updates, and the limitations of the entire system have become increasingly apparent. When people perceive this to be a minor issue and attempt to find a solution to it, they are led to a myriad of problems entrenched in the entire industry, issues with the legal system, or even problems associated with deep-rooted mindsets, which often result in them ultimately losing sight of the actual site of the problem itself.

Paper triennal

The International Paper Triennial, an exhibition competition co-founded by the Musée de Charmey and artist Viviane Fontaine in 1993, showcases the incredibly diverse landscape of contemporary paper art. Over the competition’s 25-year history, the Musée de Charmey has had the privilege of hosting and exhibiting close to 400 artists from 35 countries. The 10th International Paper Triennial will be held from 26 April to 4 October 2020.

The Triennial is open to all artists who work with paper. In other words, artists who use paper to create works of art by transforming the material itself rather than using it solely as a support or vehicle, and for whom paper occupies a prominent place in their larger oeuvre.


Artists may submit up to three works for consideration by the jury.
Three-dimensional works must be less than one cubic metre.
Two-dimensional works must be less than one square metre.
The maximum height and/or width must not exceed two metres.

All submitted works must be recent, i.e. they date from 2017 to 2019.

NordArt 2020

The exhibition grounds include the historic aisles of the iron foundry Carlshütte with their 22,000 square meters of ground area, the charming ACO Wagenremise and an 80,000 square meters sculpture park. NordArt counts about 100,000 visitors every summer.
