The International Photography Contest on Engineering and Architecture, through which Is intended to bring the professional contribution of architects and engineers to social development.




The contest opens its participation to professionals and amateurs of any nationality who submit from December 1, 2016 until March 15, 2017, a photograph that reflects in a comprehensive, partial or detail, any element that makes visible the contribution of the Engineering and the Architecture to the improvement of the conditions of habitability, comfort and quality of life in our surroundings.

Therefore, photographs of infrastructure, transport elements (roads, railways, maritime transport, air, aerospace ...), building, water use and quality as a vital element, sustainability and environment, scientific and technological advances, communications, industrial installations (Factories, industries, energy ...), and cooperation projects in developing countries.

In this edition, PHOTOINGENIA will return to dedicate the specific prize to solidarity and cooperation, and again establishes a "Solidarity Prize" to photography showing the most committed and supportive version of engineering.

Established in 2012, Passion to Perform is a competition with a mandate to foster the important contributions art makes to vibrant communities. The objective, since the beginning, has been to support and encourage emerging artists from around the world and develop a world class collection of work representing these artists.

The Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize was founded in October 2014 to further build on the programme. Following its success in its 1st year, we launched it for its 2nd year with larger prizes, an additional Sculpture Prize and greater emphasis on reaching out to many more artists and helping them by promoting early entries and hosting informative talks.

There are no restrictions based on age, training or nationality.

Artwork size must be less than 275cm x 275cm x 50cm for artworks to be hung on the wall, and less than 275cm x 275cm x 200cm for sculptures.

You can submit up to 5 different artworks, of any medium from paintings, photography, mixed media, sculpture, etc.

The topic of the Young Package 2017 is: Open & Play

The competition jury will mainly assess: innovativeness and creativity; package ergonomics; functionality; easy manipulation (packages should be easily open by elder people or children as well) environmental aspects; shape, and originality of the idea; constructional imaginativeness; quality presentation. Participants will submit their entries in the form of a full-scale functional model. This means that it must be a functional mock-up; if it is designed to open, it must open. The model must be of high quality, with regard to potential representational and exhibition purposes.

The BP Portrait Award is the most prestigious portrait painting competition in the world and represents the very best in contemporary portrait painting. With a first prize of £30,000, and a total prize fund of £61,000, the Award is aimed at encouraging artists to focus upon and develop portraiture in their work.

The competition is open to everyone aged 18 and over.

The BP Portrait Award 2017 exhibition will run at the National Portrait Gallery from 22 June to 24 September 2017. It is in its thirty-eighth year at the National Portrait Gallery and twenty-eighth year of sponsorship by BP and continues to be an unmissable highlight of the annual art calendar.

There are currently more than 60 millions of refugees on the globe, people who left their home country in order to escape war, persecution and murder, but also poverty and the lack of any perspectives.

People in Europe speak currently of the “refugee crisis”, as if the streams of refugees would come by coincidence. In fact, Europe and the old and new colonial superpowers prepared the fertile soil for all current conflicts, wars and civil wars in Middle East, Asia and Africa and the rapidly spreading terrorism. On the other hand, the climate change, natural and human made disasters and the economical, ecological, social and cultural collapse destroy the perspectives for people to remain in the homecountry, and search instead for the escape in flight.

It is said, the refugee crisis would be the biggest since World War II, but the transmigration of people does not represent a new phenomenon in the history of human civilization, it is even like that, that the phenomenon of transmigration was always initiating a new era, a renewal and an important step forward to a next level of human civilization.

But the open call would like to get down to the human dimensions, since the refugees are human individuals who are forced to leave their home countries in order to get shelter, protection and perspectives for survival elsewhere. Do or did they find the “promissed land” – temporarily or for sure?

Artists and video makers are invited to submit and spotlight this human dimension and the diversity of reasons and motivations to become a refugee.

The Jewish Motifs Film Festival is among the many international festivals focused on the Jewish nation, its tradition, identity and history, both past and present.

Films should be sent in DVD PAL format. Only the films made within the two years preceding a given edition of the Festival and in a current year shall be accepted for the Festival. Judges are looking for imaginative and well-executed pictures that explore the theme in an exciting way. The names of the top 50 photographers from each round appear on our website, along with the images from the top 30. The top 30 images are also published in AP at the end of the following month. After the eight rounds, the person with the most points will be crowned Amateur Photographer of the Year 2016.

The theme for our annual photography competition is Biology: from Big to Small.

From avalanche to zooplankton. From nanotechnology to the world’s largest sewage systems. From the arid landscapes of Australia to colourful lichen encrusting trees in a suburban garden.

We invite amateurs to use photography to explore interactions between the macro and the micro in biology – from tiny fish creating huge shoals, to algal blooms suffocating a river ecosystem, or microorganisms eating plastic waste in our oceans.

We also encourage entries captured by a microscope, from dispersing fungal spores to grains of sand. The fluorescence microscope, for example, provides an interesting window into the world of the cell and is great for examining living and fixed cells in culture.

Two categories:
Photographer of the Year (18 and over)
Young Photographer of the Year (under 18)

Entries must be digital images or scans of transparencies. Each entrant may submit a maximum of 3 images to the competition.

This year, for the sixth year running, the poster festival Weltformat is organising a student international poster competition. Twenty posters will be shortlisted and unveiled at a special outdoor exhibition at the festival in Lucerne in September. At the opening of the festival, the winning poster will be awarded a prize of 1,500 CHF by APG|SGA (Switzerland’s leading Out of Home advertising company). In addition, 500 copies of the winning poster design will be printed and displayed throughout Switzerland after the festival, courtesy of APG|SGA.


THEME: ORIGINAL & COPY The original and the copy are two terms which are used in printmaking. There is the original and the print template from which any number of copies and proofs can be made. Can this law be broken and all the requirements of modern printing and design techniques changed so that every copy becomes an original? In a stylistic capacity, the terms original and copy are also not uninteresting. A generation of designers often cites earlier eras or builds on its achievements. Where is the moment in which the copy of a style becomes something new, something original and when does the copy merely remain a copy?

The world’s first moving images were shot in Leeds in 1888 by Louis le Prince. Today Leeds is a major centre for film production and exhibition. Leeds International Film Festival is one of the UK’s biggest film events.

LIFF is a portal for discovery of the real world of filmmaking that exists beyond regular film exhibition. LIFF primarily supports outstanding new talent and established talent that has not received deserved exposure in the UK. LIFF considers narrative, documentary and animated films, in feature-length and short formats, in multiple genres and from all countries.

We are now welcoming entries for LIFF30 with new, earlier deadlines for 2016: early-bird 1st April, regular 1st July, and final 1st August.


The Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is one of the UK's biggest film events and the largest in England after London.

The 30 anniversary edition of Leeds International Film Festival will take place 3–17 November 2016.

Any genre and any length of film will be considered – anything under 45 minutes is classified as a short, anything over 45 minutes is classified as a feature.

Only films completed after 1st January 2015 will be considered for the competitive sections.

The Circle of Light Moscow international festival is an annual event at which lighting designers and specialists in audiovisual art from various countries reinvent the architectural scene of Moscow by using video mapping. The buildings that symbolize Russia – among them are: the Bolshoi Theatre, the Moscow Manege, the Moscow State University, VDNKh, and others – transform into canvases for large colorful video projections. The admission to all festival venues is free.

The Art Vision video mapping contest runs under the aegis of the Circle of Light festival. It is divided into three nominations:


classic -ART VISION (Classic Architectural Projection Mapping Competition)is an International contest of 2D or 3D mapping projections on a facade of buildings playing up its geometry and architecture. The INNSBRUCK NATURE FILM FESTIVAL is an international nature film competition, offering motivated filmmakers a platform for presenting their latest work. The International Exlibris Competition Varna is open for artists from all over the world, without limitation of education and occupation, aged 16 years or more, who accept its rules. There are no restrictions as to the themes or techniques used.

The work shall be printed on paper not larger than 290 mm x 210 mm; the image (engraved part) shall not exceed the size of 150 x 150 mm. The following words have to appear in all the works: “Ex libris”, “Bookplate” or some other similar expression (e.g. “From the library of...”), besides the name of the person or institution the work has been designed for. The bookplates are to have (under the image) the author’s signature, year of creation, technique and title (if the work has such), print number or “edition of author” abbreviation - E/A, A/P.

Participants are allowed to send maximum 5 (five) different bookplates, each of them in three signed copies. The works shall be created in the years 2014-2016. Art works presented in previous Exlibris Competition Varna shall not be accepted. The submitted art works will not be returned and will remain property of the graphic collection of the organizer of the event: Largo Art Gallery.

No limitations exist regarding the printmaking techniques. In addition to traditional printmaking techniques, computer designs shall also be accepted, providing that works of art are made in limited total print. Photocopies, drawings or sketches shall not be accepted.

The festival was founded in 1983,on the initiative of the Federation of Independent Filmmakers and gained recognition in the environment of young filmmakers.

VIDEO & ANIMATION PRIZE, 4,000 €*
Media accepted for the video and animation: video, short film, time lapse, stop motion, any kind of animation 2d and 3d, any kind of combination between video, film and photography in motion (see video Art. 5. (B), for video formats). 10 Works will be selected for the final exhibition by the ‘Video & Animation’ jury.

INSTALLATION, SCULPTURE & PERFORMANCE PRIZE, 4,000 €*
Installation works of any nature in any material, video installation, multimedia or multidisciplinary installation; sculpture – all materials are accepted (organic or inorganic); net/web art and software art presented in a 3D format with or without web streaming; works with an interactive basis and/or connection to electricity, motorization, light, sound art or video installation. Any kind of human or interactive performance, which may or may not include the use of any form of software and hardware. Live Media audiovisual performances can either be projected on screens or presented as a live audiovisual performance, sound art and all forms of participatory art. There is no limit to the size of works accepted. For finalist works, it might be necessary to adapt them to site-specific necessities. 10 Works will be selected for the final exhibition by the ‘Installation, Sculpture & Performance’ jury.

NEW - SUPER-YOUNG PRIZE, 3,000 €*
Super-Young is a new prize launched this year to promote artwork by artists under 26 years old. Entrants can be students or not, from art school, secondary school, university, academy or art courses, or be artists working outside education. Works can be submitted in any media such as painting, photography, drawing, installation, sculpture, video, performance or any other artistic crossover or derivative. 10 Works will be selected for the final exhibition by the chief-juror, Ellen Blumenstein. Entry to the final exhibition will be subject to verification by Celeste staff who will be requesting documentary proof of age (only artists 25 years old or younger on the date 9 February 2016 - date of publication of these Terms & Conditions - can apply) to confirm admission to the final in London.
