The International Poster competition launched in 2014 and has received 22,000+ poster entries from 100+ Countries (x5 competitions 2014-2018).

Over 37,000 people have attended International Poster Exhibitions (x5 exhibitions 2014-2018).

5x International Poster Catalogues and Book have been published as a result of the competition and exhibition and these can be found in the GDFS shop.


Maximum of 6 posters may be entered per participant.

Competition is open to both students and professionals.

Content submitted on the poster entry form must be accurate and include all designers involved. The content submitted in the entry form will be used for the International Poster Exhibition and International Poster Book. This content may not be possible to change.

Moving and animated posters are accepted and celebrated.

The entry must have been created in 2018-2019.

Art residency in Berlin

ZK/U sees itself as a laboratory for inter- and trans-disciplinary activities centered on the phenomenon of “the city”. It promotes international exchange on global issues, in the light of what is happening in one’s own backyard. The work at ZK/U is informed by theoretical and practice-based critiques developed in the disciplines of geography, anthropology, urban planning, architecture and the humanities.

ZK/U welcomes artists, scholars and practitioners that concern themselves with the phenomenon of 'the city'.
The programme is open to a range of contemporary artistic positions that are conceptual, interventionist and contextual.

Art prize

For its tenth edition in 2019 the COAL Prize will, in collaboration with the Platform on Disaster Displacement and DISPLACEMENT: Uncertain Journeys, tackle an essential subject:  displacement related to disasters and climate change.

Applicants will be judged on the following criteria: artistic value, relevance (understanding of the theme), originality (the ability to introduce new approaches, themes, and points of view), pedagogy (ability to get a message across and raise awareness), social and participative approaches (engagement, testimony, efficiency, societal dynamics), eco-design and feasibility.

The COAL Prize supports art projects in progress. Its award is not intended to cover all production costs of the project but should be considered as an aid to its development.

This is an international competition and artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. We invite artist and photographers to submit their best artworks related to the Portrait theme. A portrait may be a single person, a group, or self-portrait. A variety of interpretations of the Portrait theme can be submitted. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art) except sound and video art.


There is no limit to the number of images that an artist can submit.

Thus, Radio Silence will occupy the radio advertising space of the program Québec Réveille on CKIA 88.3 FM for 25 seconds, risking—perhaps—to break the flow of “meaning overload” inherent to advertising messages.


These audio segments, broadcasted live during advertising and available as podcasts on the Internet, will allow us to question society’s injunction to the exemplary, to the docile. So, let’s ask ourselves this: how does the monstrous express itself when it is usually muzzled?

On the occasion of the celebration of our V Video Festival nodoCCS, and being consistent with the experimental and contemporary nature of our platform this year nodoCCS is reconfigured to continue proposing open meeting spaces around contemporary art and video.

Since 2015 and until now there are several roles that nodoCCS has had, moving around places and countries, inhabiting spaces of both an institutional and emerging nature, collaborating with people and artists to carry out: our Festival, meetings, screenings, exhibitions and conversations.

The character of nodoCCS is that of a platform led and directed by artists, who show an interest in inhabiting spaces that do not belong to us and collaborate with structures that question us and at the same time legitimize us.

nodoCCS is thus presented as the collaborative project of two artists, an “open-ended project run by artists” whose main focus is the Video Festival nodoCCS: from which the programs, curatorships, meetings, exchanges, exhibitions and collaborations proposed by Our founders come from.

The Residency Program provides space and time for artists. Artist residency in Portugal

MIRA FORUM Gallery and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation propose an artistic residence for three months in Porto. The two entities consider contemporary creation a groundwork for the plural development of citizenship. MIRA FORUM is a gallery basically related to photography, founded in 2013 by Manuela Matos Monteiro and João Lafuente. Hundreds of artists have presented their work at around 80 exhibitions, 55 talks, 53 book launches, 43 concerts, 3 travel talks, 18 workshops, 30 photo walks, 7 international photography contests and dozens of art residencies. Artistic residences are also important in MIRA’s intervention and are focused on research, artistic production and cultural sharing. The projects are developed through the provision of creation, research and residential space.

To this competition may apply  foreign artists who have visual arts as their basis of research,
with photography being the privileged medium.
There are no restrictions in terms of academic background. The artists who apply for the
competition must be older than 18 and have developed artistic work for, at least, five years;
If the application is accepted, the artist has to come to Porto and comply with the three
months of uninterrupted residency.

Art residency in Ukraine

Project ‘Diffusion’ came to life in 2016. It aims at bringing together artists from different spheres (film and photography, multimedia, street arts, fine arts and crafts, contemporary art performance, dance, theatre, design, drawing, etc.) to create artworks that address important social and environmental issues and preferably involve local community in development of artwork. The Residency is open for artists both from Ukraine and abroad. The culminating moments of the Residency are final exhibitions on 14 of September in Mariupol Art Center and on the 28th of September in the Kramatorsk Art Museum where the artworks created during the Residency will be shown.

Kramatorsk and Mariupol are small industrial, but very green towns that due to geo-political turbulence became a kind of centers of Southeast Ukraine: The difference is leys in Mariupol being costal port city and Kramatorsk is steppe city. By choosing Kramatorsk and Mariupol as the base for the residency we hope to offers a unique experience when it comes to discovering the cultural transitions which are so characteristic to all ‘Post-Soviet’ era of the Eastern European countries. Feedback and experience of the first two editions of “Diffusion” have shown that the acclimatization process which accompanies the residency in a new city full of contrasts invariably generates creative impulses that sooner or later manifest themselves in some form of artistic expression. Participants present their depiction of their sensations to local people by giving them a chance to view their region through the eyes of a stranger.

 The participants should commit to stay from 1 to 3 weeks. From 7 to 15 we will be working in Mariupol, after that we will relocate to Kramatorsk.
Disciplines Supported: The Residency is open for arts professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to fine art, photography; video, multimedia and performance art.
Accommodation: Participants live in hostel or in a shared house.
Workspace/technical information: The Program founders/curators work together with participants and can provide support to the participants.

You are invited to apply and participate in the ”Artistic Research Residency Programme Iran-Europe” on the topic of Industrial Heritage or Living Archives, involving artists in the de-mining of sensitive heritage issues.

The programme is organised by BOZAR along with the Goethe Institut(Germany) and HERITΛGE -The Heritage Management Organization (Greece) in the framework of the European project HerMaP - Cultural Heritage Management Project in Iran.

Short film contest

Shorts of all genres, styles and narrative forms are allowed, realised from January 1st 2018.

The short films must have a maximum length of 20 minutes (with credits).

Laterale is an international non competitive Festival of cinematic art organized by Associazione Culturale Laterale. Its aim is to enhance the most innovative aspects of audio-visual languages of the contemporary scene and to reduce the distance between artistic research and public involvement. Particular attention is given to young and independent filmmakers and to self-made no-budget works, as result of individual search.

The fourth edition of the LFF will take place in Cosenza (Italy) at Cinema San Nicola from June 8th to 10th 2020. The Festival promotes a free and stimulating project of sharing, that shows what usually is neglected or rejected because of the distance from the conventional way to do and to interpret the cinema. A space that breaks down barriers and prejudices, massification and standardisation, a space that wants to become an artistic laboratory where it is possible to discover now the cinema of the future.

STIFF film festival is looking for the most creative GIF animations to be featured in the special exhibition during STIFF film festival Rijeka, Croatia.

STIFF film festival in cooperation with Gallery SKC opened a new festival category for animated GIF films. The selection of the best works will be screened at the art Gallery SKC during the STIFF Film Festival (17th- 20th October) and will be promoted through our website and social media networks.

The theme of the 6th edition of STIFF film festival is Fear. Through its film program, discussions, exhibitions, workshops and masterclasses the festival will discuss the causes and consequences of the culture of fear in Europe and in the world. It will focus on methods of resistance and struggle against fear and oppression with emphasis on cinema and art. Art Residency for photographers

Deadline: 19 August 2019

Twice a year Landskrona Foto residency welcomes early to mid-career photographer or artist working with photography and/or lens based media, who wish to further and challenge their practice, to Landskrona to engage in a project related to the city. It’s an opportunity to have time and space away from your usual environment and obligations.

Landskrona Foto connects the photographer in residency with regional-based photographers, artist and other art professionals through meetings, mentoring, exhibition openings and other networking opportunities.

The residency takes place for 6 weeks.

Residency offers:
grant of 15000 SEK (approx. 1500 EUR),
travel expenses to and from the home country (economy only),
accommodation in Landskrona,
an office space with the Landskrona Foto crew.

Open call for performers

KIPAF 2020 invites interest and participation in the promise of exploring through creative expressions that which the myth could not say aloud--the performative lives of tracing, trace-passing--the acts of leaving and carrying threads and their traces. We invite applications to this end, expressing how this theme interests the applicants and what they see themselves doing in relation to the theme during the festival from 23rd to 26th January 2020.

CURATED SECTION

This section invites a set of proposals that KIPAF would consider as the core representative of the festival, taking into account the extent of resonance of the proposals with the KIPAF-20 concept note.

OPEN SECTION

The proposals invited in this section are aimed to include as many participant artists as possible, across the practices, regions and nations. The performance proposals, selected for this section may run parallel to the curated section.

STUDENTS’ SECTION

Keeping the growth of performance art practice within the art schools and increasing interest of the student-artists, this section welcomes the students to perform, participate and interact with artists in order to enrich themselves to build up an understanding of performance art at present.

Gallery & online exhibition + donation of artworks

SURPRISE is a campaign that highlights the power of art to bring positive change. Since 2009 the campaign brings artists together and mobilizes art to offer solutions to major social issues.

More than 2000 artists from around the world have joined us in this past decade, offering their art to support their fellow humans. SURPRISE focuses on the universal language and inclusive nature of art. We collaborate with a broad spectrum of artists, from emerging to world-renowned - the exhibition is a collective effort of the artistic community.

All artworks are small format (24 x 18 cm.), are offered for the same symbolic price (50€), and are signed at the back. The artist’s identity gets revealed only after the artwork is sold, hence the "SURPRISE". Τhe proceeds are donated to the Homeless Support Program of KLIMAKA NGO.

The inaugural SURPRISE was presented in 2009 at the City of Athens Technopolis premises. The sell-out show was an instant hit and it was immediately decided that a follow up edition would ensue. Fast forward to today, after 9 successful exhibitions in Athens and one in Quito, Ecuador, it is time for "SURPRISE X".

Official format is 24 x 18 cm

We welcome all kinds of original artworks. Preferred medium is painting on canvas or other solid surface

Early submission is encouraged. Prior to the exhibition at the physical space the artworks will be exhibited online. The online version of the exhibition starts September 15 (with daily uploads through to the exhibition’s opening in the physical space). You can deliver any time between now and the date noted on the area deadlines listed below.

If you are a professional artist we invite you to create a work of art and donate it to support our cause: to help the homeless of Greece.

To facilitate international participation we are setting up collection stations in various locations. You can deliver or mail your artwork to your nearest station. Currently we have set up at the following cities. More European cities may be added in the process.

Open call for exhibition

Emerging and mid-career artists are invited to submit their work for consideration for our November 2019 exhibition juried by David Linneweh from Studio Break Podcast, artist Mychaelyn Michalec and I Like Your Work Podcast at Dutoit Gallery. All submissions will be considered for the accompanying Online Exhibition, future group shows, social media and podcast interviews.

Two artists from the exhibition will be selected to be on the podcast.

All media will be accepted.
