The third edition of the International Student Biennial, organized by the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, wants to ask how art today and the new generation of artists look at the notion of beauty; how much beauty is still possible or necessary in art; how we should evaluate it and how to look for it. We would like to see student proposals that in the broadest possible way address the problem of the beautiful and its relationship to the ugly; we are interested to find new ways of creating beauty both in traditional and new media; we ask the question whether we know what beauty is, what does it depend on and how it is created; we’d like to consider the relationship between beauty, ugliness, capitalism, globalization, and contemporary civilization after the pictorial turn.

The exhibition is planned for the end of 2019 in Osijek, when three official prizes will be awarded. The awarded works are planned to be presented at a separate exhibition in 2020.

Open worldwide to post-secondary and high school students in creative advertising, graphic design, interactive media, photography and illustration programs, the Applied Arts Student Awards is the largest and most respected show of its kind in North America. Applied Arts is a highly-regarded visual communications magazine founded in 1986 in Canada.

Winning an Applied Arts Student Award is a great way to launch your career. Your submissions will be judged by a jury of 20 award-winning senior communications professionals, so you'll know how your work stands up according to the highest standards in the industry. What makes Applied Arts Awards unique is that winners are not ranked against each other. Each entry is judged individually and independently by each jury member. Work is given a score of 1 to 10, and all pieces that are judged to be at or above the cut-off score will be published as winners in the Awards Annual.


The Student competition is international open to post-secondary and high-school students. Only Digital entries are accepted for this competition.

High-school students may only apply to the high-school categories. The rest of the categories are for post-secondary students.

Student Design Competition

Deadline:  June 30, 2019

Organised by Taiwan Ministry of Education, the Taiwan International Student Design Competition aims to encourage international creative design exchange, to develop creative design talents and to express the international image of Taiwan attaching great importance to creative design.

This year's theme is: Empathy.

There are four categories:

• Product Design
• Visual Design
• Digital Animation
• Brand Specified

Entrants can participate in the competition as individuals or in teams. The submissions must be original and created by the participants themselves.

The evaluation will be based on the digital files provided by the participants. The evaluation committee will select finalists for the final selection. Finalists will be asked to submit printouts and upload works for the Final Selection. Related information and the deadline will be noticed in the finalist announcement.

Students who currently enrolled at senior high schools or above. Participant must be born after April 28, 1989, and be younger than 30 years of age (for females who have given birth before year of 30 may have 2-year extension per birth).

Our Contest is a call for young artists, thinkers, and activists who are concerned about the future of our human and natural communities to use their creative voices to explore, express, and advocate for issues related to climate change and our oceans.

Create a piece about a coastal/marine species, place, or system that will be threatened, altered, or lost due to climate change.

All visual interpretations of the theme are welcome in this category. Your work may be in any medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, sculpture, photography, and much more.


Poetry
All pieces of written and spoken poetry that interpret the theme are acceptable in this category.

Prose
All forms of written interpretations of the theme (except poetry) are acceptable in this category. Feel free to write fiction, nonfiction, personal memoirs, analytical essays, nature writing, political advocacy, op-eds or news articles, or any other form of prose

Film
Submissions may include documentaries, dance, animations, or other types of film (but not spoken poetry or original music compositions, which have their own categories).

Music
Submissions may include audio documentaries, song parodies, or original compositions in any musical genre.

Students age 11-14 are eligible for the Junior division; those age 15-18 are eligible for the Senior division.

All art is eligible as long as it engages with technology in some form.

The categories are Still, Moving Image, XR, 3D/Interactive, Artificial Intelligence and the Photomonitor Student Award which is free to enter.

Artists may submit works created, at least in part, on tablets, digital cameras, smartphones or computers. Entries using animation techniques, CGI and moving image software to produce 3D, interactive and time-based works with or without sound are all welcome. Works which use gaming technology, VR, AR, a website or an app are also eligible for entry. If your work is site-specific, please provide video documentation.

Essentially, artists can use any equipment, there is no limit.

This year, for the sixth year running, the poster festival Weltformat is organising a student international poster competition. Twenty posters will be shortlisted and unveiled at a special outdoor exhibition at the festival in Lucerne in September. At the opening of the festival, the winning poster will be awarded a prize of 1,500 CHF by APG|SGA (Switzerland’s leading Out of Home advertising company). In addition, 500 copies of the winning poster design will be printed and displayed throughout Switzerland after the festival, courtesy of APG|SGA.


THEME: ORIGINAL & COPY The original and the copy are two terms which are used in printmaking. There is the original and the print template from which any number of copies and proofs can be made. Can this law be broken and all the requirements of modern printing and design techniques changed so that every copy becomes an original? In a stylistic capacity, the terms original and copy are also not uninteresting. A generation of designers often cites earlier eras or builds on its achievements. Where is the moment in which the copy of a style becomes something new, something original and when does the copy merely remain a copy?

The International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima, organized in Kraków since 1994, is the oldest film festival in Poland which juxtaposes the achievements of students of film and art schools from all over the world, as well as works of fine-art animation films creators: professionals, students, as well as independent producers.

The main events of every annual festival are the two contests which give the festival its name, and during which the following prizes are awarded:
in the student competition, comprising feature and documentary etudes, the Golden, Silver and Bronze Dinosaurs, as well as the Special Golden Dinosaur Award for the best film school of the festival; in the anima contest, Golden, Silver and Bronze Jabberwocky, as well as the Special Golden Jabberwocky for the student creating the best animated etude of the festival. The annual Special Golden Dinosaur is also awarded to an outstanding pedagogue who is at the same time a successful, active artist.

Since the beginnings of the Festival, the main points of the programme are accompanied by a vast range of other events. They provide a chance to get acquainted with world-class animation artists and the most interesting phenomena of this sphere of art. The accompanying events provide a chance to recall the most interesting works in the history of cinema, especially animations and documentaries. They also enable to get acquainted with contemporary short films and feature animated films which don’t reach the mainstream.

The Festival, growing bigger and bigger every year, is in its 19th, anniversary edition a great success of art cinema. To a growing extent, it encompasses other fields of art as well: the visual arts and music, along with workshops and discussions on the most current issues, not necessarily connected with filmmaking.

The International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima has been for years one of the most ambitious film festivals in Poland, and one that has been an inspiration for the organizers of other events of this kind throughout the country.

With two successful years behind and more than 3000 student films submitted from around the world, STIFF opens its submissions window for its 3rd edition.This year we are focusing on documentaries and therefore we are leaving the early bird deadline for submission of the category of documentaries free of charge. Another news are two out of competition categories in which students can apply with experimental film and art video of up to 25 min in length and unrestricted in the year of production.

Happy to keep promoting student work, Student International Film Festival aims to empower development of film and video industry in Croatia and the region, by opening a window into the works of fellow filmmakers, to encourage cooperation, exchange of new ideas and cross-border collaboration in the field of film, video and animation. This non-profit festival generously leaves all the film screenings and events entirely free of charge in order to bring more audiences and introduce them to the works of art in student films.

Works entering a competition must be original, student created films, produced after January 1st, 2014.

Fiction films, documentaries and animated student films of up to 60 min in length will be considered for the final selection.

Let us discover Europe from your point of view!

Discover Europe 2016 is the 13th edition of the biggest European photo contest for students. Yet for another time it gives us the opportunity to inspire, discover and share what is the most important for us – the idea of our common home – Europe. Since 2004 we have been there to get to know your visions about the Old Continent, but the aim and the assumptions have remained the same from the very beginning – both to establish a multicultural dialogue between students of all nationalities and to support gifted and young photographers.


The course:
Regional stage – in each one of the two regions Poland is divided into, the jury chooses 10% of the photos, which then will be accepted in the central stage. Moreover, 3 photos from each category are appointed additionally and will be rewarded during the regional galas.
Central stage – from the photos chosen in the regional stage, 3 photos in each category are awarded. The central stage ends with the gala and the vernissage of the winning photos.

Photos sent from abroad take part only in the central stage!
