International Art Competitions - art contest for artists

The Japan International MANGA Award was established in May 2007 upon the initiative of then Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Taro Aso, with the aim of awarding MANGA creators who contribute to the spread of MANGA culture overseas and international cultural exchanges through MANGA. The Award has been presented every year since then.

Among entries, the gold Award will be given to the best work and the Silver Awards to three other excellent works. The awardees will be invited to Japan by the Japan Foundation to attend the award ceremony. During their stay in Japan (approximately 10 days trip), they will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with Japanese MANGA creators, visit publishing companies and make an excursion to local sites.

MANGA works:
- need to be composed ofmorethan 16pages.
- should be the ones which have been producedwithin the past three years(2016-2019)

Only one work may be submitted per applicant

Prizes

This manga, comic and illustration contest is open to students enrolled in an Art/Design school, technical/vocational school, school art club, or extracurricular art program. Submit your work for a chance to win a cash prize, creative software, pen display tablet and even a chance for your artwork to be featured in media publications! We can’t wait to see what you’ll create.

Artists are free to use any art medium to create their submission. Submissions must be unpublished original artworks that have not won other contests and must be suitable for all ages. (You may submit artwork that has been published in fanzines or on websites that do not offer compensation for artwork.)

The competition theme is Gift.

There are two categories:

• Comic Category – an original color or black-and-white comic of 8–48 pages.
• Illustration Category – an original color illustration.

For a world where content changes at a dizzying speed.

The goal of the MCPO (Manga Contents Promote Organization) is to actively research,
domestically and internationally, new manga which has the potential for success, and promote it worldwide.
A contest for artists aiming at going professional, artists who want to test their own potential,
artists hoping to confirm the direction of current trends, artists looking for a challenge, or anyone looking to work in earnest.
Both professionals and amateurs are welcome to apply. (Teams are also welcome).
Winners will recieve critiques and advice from pros (Manga authors, illustrators, editors, designers, etc.)

There are two sections: Manga Section and Illustration Section.

Manga Section
・Open theme.
・You may submit original and complete story in one issue (commercial magazine/ web publication work is prohibited).
・Maximum of 32 pages (including cover).


Illustration Section
・The theme is "Journey".
・You may submit an original work (commercial magazine/ web publication work is prohibited, strictly limited to unpublished works).

The Japan Media Arts Festival Executive Committee is now accepting entries for the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival. All artists around the world, without distinction as to professional, amateur, independent, or commercial, are invited to submit their works to the four divisions Art, Entertainment, Animation, and Manga. Eligible works are completed or exhibited within a year before the deadline (October 6, 2017 – October 5, 2018). From each division, the jury committee will select winners of the Grand Prizes, Excellence Awards, and New Face Awards. All awards including Special Achievement Awards and Jury Selections will be announced in March 2019. Each of the winners from the four divisions will receive a trophy and prize money up to 1,000,000 Japanese yen, and also win an opportunity to present their works at the Exhibition of Award-winning Works in Tokyo in June 2019.
