Art is a powerful tool to evoke social change. Without uttering a single word, artists can enlighten, educate and affect change around the world. Embracing Our Differences invites you to participate in creating a world where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. Become a part of this exciting change through your visual art submission to the annual Embracing Our Differences international juried competition.

Featuring 50 billboard-size images, each work of art is created by local, national and international artists reflecting their interpretation of our theme "enriching lives through diversity and inclusion."

The 2020 exhibit will be on display January 18 - April 5, 2020 at Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota.

Final selections will be chosen based on artistic excellence and originality in the reflection of our theme “enriching lives through diversity and inclusion.” This may include, by way of suggestion only, any one or more of the following: appearance; racial differences; physical or mental impairment; language, religious or cultural differences; environmental stewardship; social economic status; sexual orientation or identity; gender identity, positive attitude; inclusiveness; acceptance; taunting, bullying and confrontation; human rights and equality; understanding and kindness; empowerment; Holocaust awareness/"Butterflies of Hope" or any other topic which you believe furthers our theme of “enriching lives through diversity and inclusion.” Do not feel limited by these suggestions. We strongly encourage new and fresh interpretations of our theme.

Your original art may be any size and medium; however, you must create or scan and submit it as a high-resolution digital file. All art must have a horizontal orientation.

45 submissions will be selected for inclusion in the exhibit. The judges may select an additional three entries for "honorable mention."

No entry fee

Prizes:
$1,000 each for “Best-in-Show Adult”, “Best-in-Show Student” and the “People’s Choice”

Poster competition

Deadline: 31st July 2019

Weltformat Graphic Design Festival in Lucerne (Switzerland) is looking for the best young poster designers.

Newcomer Award subject:
Manifesting Rules
Rules and regulations may limit creativity – on the other hand, they can be liberating, especially in times of seemingly endless possibilities. The question is, whether exciting results emerge when graphic designers disregard rules or rather when they consciously allow restrictions. Are design rules crucial and important or just an unnecessary dictation and the only rule to follow should be: no rules? Show us which formal and content-related rules you personally act on – and which ones you think should definitely be broken.

A maximum of three entries per person is permitted.

Already published works and plagiarisms are excluded from participation.

The competition is open to everyone younger than 27.

No entry fee

Prizes:
The twenty best projects will be presented in an exhibition during Weltformat Graphic Design Festival 2019. After the exhibition, the winning poster will be shown at 500 locations throughout Switzerland and awarded CHF 1500.
