After the success of last year edition (25.000 photos in the contest from 62 nations, 60 screening events in museums and clubs throughout Italy) Oasis PhotoContest is ready to start again.

The competition is divided into 10 categories. In 8 of these categories contestants needs to supply the RAW file in order to qualify for the category prizes.

P) LANDSCAPES Images showing natural habitats. They can be either wild landscapes or landscapes modified by the human presence. (farms, dwellings, roads…)
M) MAMMALS It refers to images that feature mammals in a natural state, it can be wildlife pictures or portraits, with the exception of bats, that should be submitted in Birds and Bats category, and whales underwater, that should be submitted in Underwater Photography category. Pictures of whales taken from a boat belongs to this category. Any photo portraying plant or animal underwater belongs to Underwater Photography category
U) BIRDS AND BATS Images that show birds or bats in their natural state, being wildlife photography or portrait. Photos depicting birds in immersion underwater should be submitted in Underwater Photography category.
T) ALL THE OTHER ANIMALS This category is for all the other species that are not included in the aforementioned sections (P, M, S, A and U.) This section would be for reptiles, amphibians, arthropods, invertebrates, shellfish, annelids, arachnids, insects, myriapods… Images of fishes taken from a boat (flying gurnard) or from the ground (salmons jumping) belong to this category.
F) STORYBOARD It refers to five or more images linked together by a logical sequence. The subject must be developed by a minimum of 5 images and a maximum of 9. The photos can be taken in sequence or in different moments but strictly connected with each other, and they must tell a story about nature, wildlife, ethology or natural environments and territory.
G) PEOPLE includes images that show indigenous peoples or tribes and ethnicity all over the world, in particular people living in the wilderness with primal traditions and costumes.
S) UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY Underwater photography is the process of taking photographs under the water with underwater technical equipment. Photos can be taken in freshwater or marine environment. (Underwater flora, fishes, whales submerging, amphibian or birds submerging).
V) PLANTS It‘s for the images that represent flowers, plants, mushrooms either taken with macro photography techniques or with classic techniques
CATEGORIES IN WHICH ORGINAL FILE IS NOT REQUIRED

Q) OPEN NATURE Includes pictures portraying natural environment, landscapes, flowers, plants and mushrooms
R) OPEN ANIMALS It refers to animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, echinoderms, insects, crustaceans, annelids, mollusks, sponges) being either domestic or in the wild or in captivity (animal rescue centre, wildlife parks, zoos)
